We’ve lots throughout our Programme for Youth & Family such as Urban Art with Maser and sports, and movies.
Recyclable Sculpture Competition. Friday, Saturday & Sunday. Belgrave Square.
Third class students have been busy working with artist Elena Brossa and Susan McEvoy designing and creating their very own large scale sculpture made entirely out of recyclable materials. Each class’s work will be on display in Belgrave Square from Friday 24/04 – Sunday 26/04.
The competition will be judged by renowned installation artist and sculptor Alan Mongey who received critical acclaim for his most recent exhibition “No fighting in the War Room” at the lab, Dublin. The winning class will be awarded with a course in animation provided by the Digital Hub. This competition is supported by the Arts Office, Dublin City Council.
Children’s Circus School. Saturday, 25/04. 4pm – 5.30pm. St Louis High School
All the fun of the Big Top for the Little ones. See acrobats, monocycles, stilts, big balloons, jugglers and more. Rathmines Festival are delighted host this circus from Lyons, France.
Family Fun Day. Sunday, 26/04. 2pm – 5pm. Belgrave Sq
The South East Area Office of Dublin City Council is once again offering a fun filled Family Day for the whole community as part of Rathmines Festival. The Family Day will be held in Belgrave Square on Saturday 25th April and all are welcome to come and join the festivities. Among the fun activities on offer are Face Painters and Balloon Modellers, Bouncy Castles and Musical Entertainment. We look forward to seeing you all there.
Student Short Movie Competition. Sunday, 26/04. 5pm – 6pm. Slattery’s
This year sees the Rathmines Festival’s first ever film competition. We’ve called upon all the budding film makers in the city to come and prove themselves. Come watch as we show the final runners up and announce the winners.
Our top films will then be broadcast on DCTV and the overall winner will be given the chance to shoot another film but this time with access to studio space, lighting, top quality high definition cameras, and post production- so they can prove themselves to be Ireland’s answer to Danny Boyle.
