Festival Drama

This year we present two exciting productions of acclaimed plays to appeal to the drama lover.

Essential Macbeth, Friday, 24/04, 2pm – 4pm, Location St. Louis High School. €7

This 75 minute production focuses on the core scenes of the popular Shakespearean tragedy. Centered on the dangers of ambition and corruption; this fascinating play details Lady Macbeth’s determination to unleash the couple’s ambition for power and the subsequent guilt that drives them both to the point of madness. Audiences are treated to a fantastically dark and murky atmosphere highlighted by the background of unnatural disturbing events reflecting the gravity of the crimes.

The production will also be followed by discussion examining the main themes and development headed by Shakespearean enthusiast Rebecca Wardell.

Forgotten - Pat Kinevane (iKeano) in association with Fishamble New Play Company. Saturday, 25/04. 8pm – 11pm St. Louis High School. €15

Fresh from two captivating New York performances, Forgotten is a powerful piece of solo theatre in which Pat Kinevane (I Keano,Ballykissangel) portrays four elderly characters with an interconnecting story. The four elderly people, who range from 80 to 100 years old, live in retirement homes and care facilities around Ireland. 1943 was a curious year for this quartet – their lives have never been the same since...

Forgotten is, at times, challengingly dark and, at other times, startlingly hilarious and is presented in a fusion of European and Japanese Kabuki theatrical styles.
